Getting Down with the Good Earth

Encouraged by morning sunshine.
On a Mexican blanket in the grass.
Wearing my mother's bell-sleeved wrap around.

Artifact Circa: 1970

I don't think I fit it, as well as she did though.
No use trying to claim a life not my own.

But it feels good to try, wonder what her dreams were...

The heat grows fuller and the day moves on.
I should too...

Or, I could just roll closer to the shade.
Let the sounds of neighboring lawn mowers rock me,
let my lack of sleep be absorbed by the ground.
