Hi nice people who read this blog! Southern California has been outrageous and beautiful - as usual. Even though the beauty of this place forever stares us yuppy/hippies straight in the face, it's not always apparent when one is having a mood. I was totally stuck in my muck last week - but then, breakthrough! It arrived with that FAT full moon some of you may have noticed came to sit upon all of humankind the last couple days. Whoa!

This post is to let you know two things: I'll be writing more about breakthroughs SOON - juicy, juicy! Alsooooooo...I'm working on an honest to goodness NEWSLETTER! Creating a real NEWSLETTER is sUper eXciting! It feels strangely personal to me, having a new tool makes me feel inclined to share even more really cool, magical and PRACTICAL things, in a simple effective way. Easy for me and fun for you!

The NEWSLETTER will be sent out - up to four times a month. Each one will be chock full of all kinds of goodies; Poetry, events, pictures, invitations, ideas, art, projects, offers, inspiration...

Already receiving my sometimes-email? Do nothing.

I'm a Little Rain Blog

It rained last night and I feel encouraged to begin again; this beautiful blog that I love. It's April. The last time I posted - it was December. Have I abandoned my readers? No. I toyed with feeling guilty, but it's too boring to feel guilty. Guilty makes me feel stuck. Stuck feels boring. It rained last night - that's not boring. Or guilty. It's beautiful. As beautiful as this sweet little blog that I love.

I am a cloud
A full little cloud
That grows up big
Or shrinks down small
Or disappears for months
Months of not-at-all
But when I fill up
To over bursting
I pour down rain
To quench my thirsting
This is the place
Where I get to play
Let my words drop
Wherever they may
That's why I love -- this blog so tender
It catches the "release"
And returns it to its sender - akka b.

PROGRESS: What Happens When You Do It Anyway!

Life has been leaping off the pages the past couple months. In the summer I began writing about what it's like to leave a perfectly great job to pursue a life of poetry. Little did I know, poetry would begin pursuing me! Tracking this progress came to a halt, having gotten caught up, living progress.

So it goes...

Life is progress. Even if you don't know what you are doing, how you are going to go about doing it, or what it looks like when you get there. When you happen upon that thing that you know you must do and follow it, somehow life folds in to help. I won't rummage backwards through details, I'm absolutely exhausted and details at this late hour are getting tossed faster than flying stardust. Delusional is the best word. Yes.

Before I fall entirely off the internet for the night, I want to share a couple pictures of progress. Last Friday I hosted a Poetry Event at the famous indoor/outdoor used bookstore in Ojai, California. Bart's Books is an incredible venue for such gatherings. The plein-air atmosphere and a community of warm hearts lit the evening on fire! The question was posed, "So, what do YOU DO when it rains?" to which Ojai poets, and poets who sent in poems from around the world replied. Such a fun night with willing everyday-people sharing their hearts and perspective. A JOY!

He Said It.

Everything I've always wanted to say and more, can be found here... and because he said it so well, and because "it" makes me want to squish and squeeze him in a not very Englishman kind of way... well. Well anyway, I'm going to be constructive about my enthusiasm and just direct you to his site so you can see for yourself.

Check out what I would have said,
had I been born Jonas Wunderman.

Reinvenating

Dear Friends,

strangers, lovers, stragglers, writers, entrepreneurs, poets, peace makers, mothers, fathers, children, cousins and spy's.... I'm taking pause with this one sweet blog --- spot --- for one --- short --- time. There's a project piled on my desk that needs some tender loving care - a little promise to myself I'm trying very hard to keep. So excuse me for a few days, a week, perhaps a week and a few days while I sort myself....

Meanwhile, instant Drunk Love gratification can be had on the Drunk Love Heart Fan Page over at that place called Facebook. Join me there for spontaneous poetic drinks, almost nearly real time exchanges and hopefully a smile or two.

A kiss on the forehead for when the day falls dry. X

Always Love,

JONAS WUNDERMAN and a little mid-week mischief

For one day only you can find me nosing around the neighbor's house/closet/blog. Jonas is letting me do his laundry while he is out for tea. I agreed. I didn't however, tell him what I agreed to exactly. (She rubs her hands together with a mischievous grin). Click the picture above to meet

AMAZING JONAS WUNDERMAN

And come keep me company for my one day
'across the pond.'

write?

Not feeling tortured at every turn can be a challenge as a writer. Sometimes I feel it would be much easier if I had something to hate more, if I liked cigarettes and long tall dizzying drinks, if I had more black in my closet or disparaging opinions hanging around. What am I thinking anyway? Writing about trees and rocks and dirt and sky and moon and weird things like feet and lightning and supernatural phenomenon? I mean you should probably feel sorry for me or something; at least that would be writer-ish - if I could get someone to feel sorry for me. Then I would brood aimlessly and act indulgent. Gosh that would be cool.

I'm not cool. That's just it. I'm way too warm and fuzzy to be cool. I like to sniff people. I like to slurp things. I talk to inanimate objects - affectionately. I light candles and pray to stuff, or about stuff - either. I do cry sometimes, but then I laugh about it. I laugh and laugh and laugh, hard and loud and not in a very hip way at all. Nope, not very hip...not at all.

Write.
So about those rocks...

APPRECIATION

humbly...

I thank each and every one of you for stopping by.
Sharing perspective, stories, laughter, tears...
but above all...friendship. Thank you for your
friendship.

It's like a full moon on a Monday morning experiencing
so many beautiful souls so near.

Gives me hopeful feelings...
Like it might be o.k. to continue.

Intimately. Openly. Fearlessly.

Under Re-Construction

Holding life between my teeth, I shake it from side-to-side.
Ripping apart skin that holds it all together.

Sloughing off what's dead.

Eating up leftovers.

Re-assembling as usual.

Things get rusty. oil.

Things get dirty. wash.

Things get tired. sleep.

Things get hungry. eat.

In the spirit of renewal allow me to introduce...
the spin cycle.

This is my long winded way of saying "POSTING"
has temporarily taken a back seat to "HOSTING"
ME.
- in this new place of mine.

Getting acquainted with many new rooms in my
"House of Great Expansions."

Giving myself a little extra time to organize:
Re-install favorite Subjects,
Re-place broken Bureau's,
Polish the Foundation...and so on and so forth.

If you know what I mean?

So hang in there,
the poetry will be back in a blast-ish sort of way.

as soon as i take some things out of the dryer.

A New Word...

Struggling with the word...

B L O G

Isn't there something else we can call these waves of consciousness?
Something that doesn't sound like...

BLOB
or BLOT or BLOP or BLAH???

Any Ideas?

I want to start a revolution.
I'm not sure how...but I just really want to.

DISCLAIMER:

ART doodles you find on these pages are accidental. By no means have I ever considered myself an artist in the classic sense. NO WAY. But I do to try to get some of the images in my head out of my head...just for the heck of it.

Usually they're a total muck-up of what is actually hidden upstairs ~ but it's all I've got, and it's what I can give, and it can't be helped.

I'm just trying to be braver, that's all.

enjoy the folly.

I just have to tell y'all...

When I launched this blog a few days ago, I nearly puked. The sensation was equivalent to getting off a roller coaster with about eight upside down twisty turns. My legs were shaky, my palms were sweaty, my heart beat claimed the space between my ears and I felt an incessant need to scratch my head, squeeze my arms and shake my legs.

I guess I thought everyone would hate it and think I was stupid. Or maybe I was worried everyone might love it and ask for more.

Exposure Fever.

Shortly after I pressed the "GO" button I had to ask my nine-year-old daughter for a hug. I told her my apprehensions, and she very calmly wondered why I would be so concerned. She went on to say, "Mom, what you need to do is think of everyone in the whole world as tiny little ants, they are just going to have a look around and not even say anything."

Well, I don't know about the "not saying anything" part, but it did bring me solace knowing the whole world had turned into tiny little ants.

Blog a Log a Loo LOO

By the way...I don't know the first thing about blogging. Except for what I have done so far. I guess I know about this much now. A days worth. If I stick with this kind of thing, my hope is to make it like a really fun place to visit, ya know, with cool artsy stuff and HTML's and photoshop tricks.

Meanwhile I'll do the best I can with just the words, a free site, and beginners luck. But if you have any suggestions, please share.
Like a Lion.
